Anti-Ragging Policy 

St. John The Baptist’s college of Education, Nedumuknnam is committed to providing a safe and healthy learning environment for her students. Ragging in all its forms and magnitude is prohibited in the campus, in all its premises within the campus or outside of St. John The Baptist’s college of Education, Nedumuknnam. Anti-ragging policy and guidelines of the college is constituted under the UGC guidelines. The institution undertakes a policy of Zero tolerance towards any matter of Ragging major or minor and due punishment will be meted out to the offender.

Objectives of Anti-Ragging Policy

  1. To create a secure and student friendly campus that fosters a conducive learning environmnent.

 ii. To comply with the UGC (Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2009. 

Measures to prevent Ragging in the Campus 

  1. Constituting an anti-ragging committee to monitor the campus.
  2.  Conscientising students about the consequences of ragging. 
  3. Promoting a culture of mutual respect and brotherhood by providing opportunities for healthy interactions. 
  4. Making the freshers aware of the anti ragging policy of the institution. 
  5. The anti-ragging committee to design strategies and action plans for curbing the menace of ragging in the college. 
  6. Having the National Anti-Ragging Help Line 24×7 Toll-Free number – 1800-180- 5522, the email address and contact number of the Nodal Officer of the Anti-Ragging Committee published on the website and campus areas.

Measures to be undertaken against the offender

Depending on the seriousness of the issue the following punishments are meted out

  1. Expelled from attending classes and academic privileges
  2. Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits.
  3. Denied from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process. 
  4. Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national, or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc. 

Anti-Ragging Committee

Committee is to eliminate ragging in all its forms from the educational institution. This will be achieved by preventing its occurrence and punishing those who indulge in ragging and to check cases of ragging.

Objective

To raise awareness about ragging, establish policies and guidelines to prevent it, and ensure a safe and secure environment for all students.

Functions

  1. Organizing awareness programs to inform students about the consequences of ragging and the measures to prevent it.
  2. Directing prompt and impartial investigations into reported incidents of ragging.
  3. Providing support and counseling services to ragging victims.
  4. Ensuring the safety and well-being of the students.
  5. Fostering a positive and inclusive campus environment and promoting respect and empathy among students.

Term: The Anti ragging Cell is reconstituted every three years.

Meeting: The Anti ragging Cell assembles once in a year and whenever necessity arises.
