PRATHIBHA (Women Cell)

PURPOSE OF WOMEN CELL

Prathibha , the Women Cell in St John the Baptist’s College of Education  plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being, safety, and empowerment of women students, faculty, and staff. Prathibha works towards creating a campus environment that fosters gender equality and inclusivity. By raising awareness about gender issues and advocating for equal opportunities, it helps in challenging stereotypes and biases. Prathibha serves as a platform for women to address and seek redressal for issues such as harassment, discrimination, and gender-based violence. This includes providing support mechanisms, counselling, and ensuring fair investigations into complaints. The policies are drafted within the framework of UGC guidelines.

Objectives of Women Cell

The college aims to provide and maintain a healthy, safe, congenial learning environment for girl students, female staff free from gender discrimination and sexual harassment.

  • To build a positive image of women in the society and recognising their contributions in social, economic and political sphere.
  • To enhance self-esteem and self confidence among women students and staff.
  • To foster decision making ability.
  • To increase awareness of women related social issues, health, employment and gender related matters.
  • To realize the role of women in building up of a healthy society

Policies of Women Cell

  • Institution  prohibits all forms of harassment, including sexual harassment, bullying, and discrimination based on gender.
  • Institution ensures the overall welfare and empowerment of women within the college community.
  •  Teachers and students are supposed to report incidents of  harassment confidentially and without fear of retaliation.
  • Institution shall  enquire and take disciplinary procedures including reprimands, suspension or termination from the institution
  • Institution shall never fail in duty to provide confidential counselling services for female students who have experienced harassment, abuse, or any form of gender-based violence.
  • If required the institution shall ensures access to medical and psychological support through tie-ups with healthcare providers.
  • Institution provide facilities like rest rooms for students and nursing mothers, sanitation facilities and vending machines 
  •  Policies are inclusive of transgender and non-binary individuals, respecting their identities and specific needs
  • Institution shall provide a platform for women to voice their concerns, seek guidance, and receive support.
  • Institution shall conduct regular sessions on women’s health, hygiene and organize self-defense workshops and awareness sessions on legal rights and protections for women.
