Student Welfare Committee

The student welfare committee of St. John the Baptist’s college of Education plays a pivotal role in fostering a holistic educational environment by actively promoting mental health and well-being, ensuring a safe and inclusive campus, providing academic support and health initiatives, addressing student grievances, encouraging participation in extracurricular activities, facilitating career guidance, and offering support for students with special needs, thereby contributing significantly to the overall development and success of the student.

The Student Welfare Committee looks at avoiding the barriers that may come in the path of a student’s learning process so that they can be qualified professionally at national and international levels. The Student Welfare Committee of SJB is responsible for the general and specific well-being of students. It works for the overall welfare of the student in terms of student development which consists of student development programs, counseling of the students, social, cultural and leadership activities and many more.

 Aim

The aim of the student welfare committee is to ensure the overall well-being and development of students by providing support for their academic, emotional, social, and physical needs, fostering a safe and inclusive environment, and promoting initiatives that enhance their educational experience and personal growth.

Objectives

  • To ensure the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of all students.
  • To provide support and resources that help students excel academically.
  • To create a secure and welcoming atmosphere where all students feel valued and respected
  • To recommend on the enhancement of students’ facilities during their course of study.

Functions 

  • To provide counseling and support services for students dealing with personal, emotional, or psychological challenges
  • To promote involvement in sports, arts, Yoga,Zumba and other activities that contribute to students’ overall development.
  • To help students access scholarships, grants, and other financial aid options.
  • To establish mechanisms for students to express their concerns and suggestions, and to act on them appropriately.
  • To prevent and address issues like bullying, harassment, and substance abuse on campus.
  • Coordinating with companies to organize campus recruitment drives, helping students to secure job placements
  • Providing workshops on resume writing, interview techniques, and other job application skills to prepare students for the recruitment process.
  • Facilitating interactions with industry professionals through seminars, workshops, and guest lectures to help students gain insights into career exploration and preparation.
  • Building and maintaining a strong alumni network to create opportunities for mentorship, networking, and job referrals.
